When you have teeth in the back of the mouth it serves 2 functions: to help chew food and also keeps the maxillary sinus from pnumatizing or coming down. When teeth have been missing for a long period of time bone has a tendency of resorbing or disappearing.
Furthermore, the maxillary sinus pnumatizes, or keeps coming down, causing less bone in the area. Remember, sinus are air filled cavity and implants have to be surrounded by bone all around. If there is not enough bone to place an implant, then a sinus elevation is required.
Depending on the amount of bone you have, there are two types of sinus elevation- osteotome sinus elevation and a lateral window sinus elevation.
Osteotome sinus elevation is done at the same time of the implant.
We numb you up the same way you would get a filling. Before the implant is placed we gently bump up the area and add bone graft. Within a few minutes the implants are placed.
You go to work the same day with minimal discomfort.
Lateral window sinus elevation is done when there is not enough bone to place the implant at that time.

After a period of healing, implants would then be placed in the area.
With either procedure there is no harm or changes in the sinus. The amount that we are elevating is miniscule compared the amount of cubic volume in the sinus.

Dental implants are small anchors made of a biocompatible metal called titanium that are placed in the jawbone. Dental implants are the replacement of tooth roots in the mouth. Once placed, the anchors begin to fuse with the bone over the course of a few months. After the fusing process, known as osseointegration, abutment posts are inserted into the anchors to allow for the permanent attachment of the replacement teeth.
An implant supported bridge is a dental bridge that is secured to two or more dental implants rather than relying on the adjacent natural teeth for support. When a bridge uses natural teeth for attachment, the teeth must be prepared (shaved down) for crowns. Once the bridge is placed, the natural teeth will be subjected to increased stress that can be damaging – particularly if the existing tooth, roots, or surrounding bone structure are already compromised.
For patients who are missing many or all of their teeth, implant supported dentures may be an alternative to traditional dentures. This solution requires the placement of two or more implants. In order to replace a full arch denture, a minimum of four implants is generally recommended. Eligibility for this solution is dependent upon a number of factors, with jaw bone density being one of the most significant determining factors.
Traditional dentures rely on an acrylic base that sits directly on the gums, held in place by a paste or adhesive. Using implants as supports for dentures allows for a smaller and more comfortable base and less shifting of the prosthesis during use.

There is no longer a need to wait to have your teeth after implant placement, or wear an uncomfortable removable denture during the healing time. Initial scans will be taken at your consultation for implant placement, and we will also scan and take photographs of your mouth so we can plan your dream smile. From there our onsite digital lab will fabricate your smile. At your next visit, implants and your teeth will be placed. You leave with a permanent smile, and will be able to enjoy your favorite meals just hours later!

Wisdom teeth can sometimes cause problems especially in young adults because they are piercing through the gum tissue. it can cause a lot of discomfort. wisdom teeth are categorized in that they are fully bony impacted in which they would need to see an oral surgeon to remove it. Some times the wisdom teeth are soft tissue impacted or partially impacted meaning they are out of the bone but covered up by gum tissue. again, based upon the tissue impaction, it may need to go to an oral surgeon for removal. When the tooth is fully erupted and functioning, it is a normal tooth. With any teeth, they can get cavities and bone loss. if severe, then the wisdom teeth needs to be extracted which can be done in the office if conditions are right.
Nitrous oxide is a safe and effective sedative agent that is mixed with oxygen and inhaled through a small mask that fits over your nose to help you relax. Nitrous oxide, sometimes called “laughing gas,” is one option your dentist may offer to help make you more comfortable during certain procedures.

Conscious sedation is a combination of medicines to help you relax (a sedative) and to block pain (an anesthetic) during a medical or dental procedure.
